The 2017 vintage in Western Australia was characterised by persistent warm and dry conditions punctuated by several rain events during harvest. A return to healthy rainfall levels in the preceding winter and a wet, cool spring resulted in healthy vines carrying a slightly higher than average crop. This meant that the ripening and picking times were three weeks later than the short term average. However, the weather conditions resulted in the harvest of fruit full of flavour and in sound condition
Fermented in open top fermenters for a period of 8-12 days, the wine was then gently pressed off skins to complete malolactic fermentation. Following 12 months of oak maturation, the wine was carefully blended, fined and filtered before bottling.
A vibrant red wine that ventures away from the traditional single varietal wines to a blend that reflects the diversity of the regions it was sourced from. The wine is a medium bodied style displaying cherry and red berry fruits with a touch of spice and a savoury finish. Best enjoyed with tapas style dishes, red meats, or cheeses.
