The 2018 vintage in Western Australia was near perfect. A return to average rainfall and a bright sunny Spring period in the preceding year has resulted in a high quality average yielding crop. Mild summer conditions prevailed through the harvest period enabling steady flavour accumulation and ripeness. Fruit was harvested at full flavour ripeness, albeit with lower sugar levels than normal, which has resulted in a finer more elegant wine style.
Gentle processing and cool fermentation in stainless steel tank ensured the primary fruit flavours of pear and spice were retained. Following fermentation the wine was fined and stablised in preparation for bottling.
This intensely aromatic wine displays pear and apple fruits with floral notes and a hint of spice. The palate is lively and fresh showcasing pear, melon and almond with citrus zest and pepper spice highlights. The juicy palate has a rounded texture, nicely balanced with fine acidity and admirable flavour length.
Best enjoyed youthful and fresh as an aperitif or with Mediterranean inspired seafood dishes.
